A few months back, Microsoft launched the IndexNow protocol along with Yandex, allowing websites to easily notify search engines whenever their website content is created, updated, or deleted. The IndexNow protocol not only has been adopted by multiple search engines, but also more than 80k websites have already started publishing and reaping the benefits of faster submission to indexation.
Continuing our efforts of empowering website owners to have more control over the content which they publish to search engines, we are now making the submission process even easier to implement.
The IndexNow protocol ensures that all URLs submitted by webmasters to any IndexNow-enabled search engine immediately get submitted to all other similar search engines. As a result of co-sharing URLs submitted to IndexNow-enabled search engines, webmasters just need to notify one API endpoint. Not only does this save effort and time for webmasters, but it also helps search engines in discovery, thus making the internet more efficient.
Microsoft Bing has already started sharing URLs from IndexNow with Yandex and vice-versa, with other search engines closely following suit in setting up the required infrastructure. All Search Engines adopting the IndexNow protocol agree that submitted URLs will be automatically shared with all other participating Search Engines.
Additionally, websites adopting IndexNow protocol can now send their submissions at the below API enpoint :
Please visit IndexNow for more details on the implementation.
The IndexNow protocol can help the entire search industry get their content indexed faster, while using less resources. Early adoption of IndexNow can help businesses deliver timely information to their users across search engines and reap benefits of staying ahead of the curve.
We will continue to learn and improve at larger scale as more sites implement IndexNow. Our goal is to give each adopter the maximum benefit in terms of indexation, crawl load management and freshness of content to searchers.
