A new version of the Bing app for iPhone is now available for download from the Apple App Store. With this release, we were able to take advantage of the extensibility possible in iOS8 making it easier to extend the reach and functionality of Bing on iPhone.
Let’s take a look at what’s new
Translate the Web to Your Native Language from the Bing App or Safari
Whether you’re traveling in a foreign country or trying to brush up on second language skills, Bing Translator is now a few clicks away. To take advantage of this new feature, just tap the Share icon in the app, and click the Translate button.
To make this work in Safari, you need to manually add the Bing Translate button to your options
Set Bing Homepage Image and Trending Topics to iOS Today Screen
Swiping from the top on your iPhone brings up the Today screen, which can now host the beautiful image of the day and trending stories from the web. With this information available at a glance, we hope to save you time while informing you about what’s going on in the world. To enable this feature, tap ‘Edit’ on your Today screen and add Bing.
This release underscores Bing’s increasingly important role as a service layer across Microsoft and beyond.
Try the app now and let us know what you think.
