With year’s end fast approaching it’s appropriate to take stock on your accomplishments over the past 12 month as well as your ambitions for the upcoming year. Here at Bing Maps we are proud to have delivered an ongoing series of major updates of aerial and Streetside imagery and are starting to plan for what’s next for us in 2015. This post highlights some of the cities in our latest monthly content release. A complete list of locations with new imagery is at the end of the post.
Major Milestone for Streetside
Have you seen one of our Streetside collection vehicles in the past year? Based on recent social media posts a lot of people have and it’s no wonder—the team recently surpassed the 100 million mark in terms of population coverage in the United States. Using LandScan™ population data compiled by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory we’ve determined our cars have driven past locations where almost a third of the country’s population lives and works. Here is a sampling of new locations now available on Bing Maps and the Bing Maps Preview App:
Disneyland in Anaheim, CA on Bing Maps
Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, IN on Bing Maps

Make a Resolution to Visit (Virtually)
Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet? The practice of making declarations to welcome the new year go way back, perhaps all the way to ancient Babylonia. Ancient Romans made promises to the Roman god Janus, for whom the month of January is named. It’s fitting, therefore, that one of the new 3D cities we just released was part of the Roman Empire: Venice Italy:

Of course one of the most famous places to ring in the new year and get a start on living up to your resolutions is “the Big Apple”, New York City. We are proud to feature this iconic skyline in this month’s release of new 3D cities:

Coincidentally, as TechCrunch reported last week, Google also just released updated 3D imagery for New York City. You can compare for yourself and see if you agree with TechCrunch on which imagery looks better.
Finally, while revelers huddle in Times Square waiting for the ball to drop residents of a few other of our new 3D cities are probably already in bed. This month we’ve added new imagery for Hamburg, Berlin, Barcelona and Madrid, among others. Scroll down for a complete list.
