One of the greatest things about growing up in Melbourne was being immersed the city’s preoccupation with sport and in particular with the AFL (the VFL in my early days). With the recent start of the 2011 AFL season, it is time to announce Bing Australia’s new AFL features.
If you search for ‘AFL‘ in Bing you will get a schedule of the current round of matches.
Not only do we give you the starting time but also a map to the ground, just so you find your way to the stadium and do not miss the opening bounce.
During the round, scores will update and at the end of the round it will look like this:
Now we are early on in the season but as we move towards September, the ladder will become more and more important, so a search for ‘AFL ladder’ will produce a competition points table featuring the teams that are on track to make the finals. A full ladder option is also available.
Searches for individual teams, for example ‘Richmond’ or ‘Collingwood’, will produce a card of team information including table position, their season’s win/loss record and their last and next match details.
Of course we will all need to wait to find out the premiers for 2011 – but even today we can tell when and where this will be decided.
All I can do now is wish the “yellow and black” all the best for 2011 and say that I hope to see Richmond in the Grand Final answer come the “one day in September”, err… October.
