Following keen consumer interest, Microsoft is pleased to announce the new Bing Desktop application for Windows is now available for download here. 

Every day, the application automatically updates your desktop wallpaper with a high resolution image of the day’s homepage, drawn from the most beautiful images Bing uses around the world. Bing Desktop also allows you to go back through the previous nine days of inspiring imagery, perfect if you want to view images from days you were away from your computer.

In addition, Bing Desktop marries the beauty of Bing’s daily homepage with a quick, convenient and moveable search bar that allows you to discover and do more, keeping you in touch with highlights of the top news, videos, images and popular now topics within the search bar. All you need to do is simply click on the content icon, select the content type and scroll through the top headlines without needing to open a browser first. This allows you to get the information you need and get on your way faster than ever.    

To start searching, all you need to do is simply click on the Bing taskbar icon, or the Bing tile in Windows 8 Modern mode, and the search bar will automatically appear at the front of the screen. Type in a search term using the auto suggest keywords or search history, and the search results appear in your default browser. When not in use, the search box goes to the background to maximise precious screen space.

 Bing Desktop is available on all OS versions of Windows (including Windows Servers 2008 and 2012) except for Win8 Modern.  Bing Desktop is available in Win8 Classic.
