Informed Choices

Bing’s new Ethical Shopping hub, currently accessible in the UK only, provides consumers with categories like eco-friendly, upcycled, or fair-trade fashion. Shoppers can also select to browse by ethical fashion brands or products, trending, and featured items, or even grab the latest headlines about informed fashion choices and other planet-friendly news topics, all on one convenient page. We're looking into expanding beyond fashion into other types of products soon.

These ratings, powered by Good On You®, are an average of the scores for each of three focal areas: people, planet, and animals. Information is gathered from brand and parent company credible reporting, third-party indices (e.g., the Fashion Transparency Index and CDP Climate Change and Water Security projects), and independent certifications, accreditations, and other standards-based systems (like Fair Trade, Cradle to Cradle, OEKO-TEX STeP and the Global Organic Textile Standard).

These ratings are now integrated into Microsoft Bing shopping filters that consumers can apply when searching for fashion products. The filters provide a score that allows shoppers to spend thoughtfully and make a difference when shopping with Microsoft Bing.

And since these ratings are seamlessly integrated into the shopping experience on Microsoft Bing, consumers will continue to see other smart product information (like price drops and sales) when they are using these sustainability filters. These ratings are currently available on the desktop experience in the UK and are expected to be available for consumers in other countries in the coming year!
