As 2010 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the year’s most popular search trends. While topical items like Swine Flu and Stock Market topped the list in 2009, this year rankings reflects the popularity of celebrity news. This year’s most searched for topic was Kim Kardashian which received 20% more searches than the second most popular term: Sandra Bullock. 2009’s top searched term, Michael Jackson dropped to the number 11 position for most popular people. The only item repeating their appearance in the top ten was Kate Gosselin (last year’s #8) – although this year she appeared alone – minus Jon. Also, the tough economy is apparent with discount retailer Walmart and the topic “free” appearing in the top 10.
