Meet Steve H, Group Program Manager

I joined Microsoft in 1992.  Since then, I’ve worked in four distinctly different divisions in three different types of jobs.  In every team, I’m continually energize by the challenges we take on and the great people that contribute to innovative solutions.  At Microsoft, you can explore many different roles and experiences surrounded by a great peer group.  I joined the Manageability Services Group in 2009 to get involved in the company’s evolution to the cloud.  I’m on a fantastic team that develops software to drive one of the largest online infrastructures in the world.

The new paradigm is massively distributed software, where a typical service runs on hundreds, thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of servers at the same time. Executing on this strategic shift to highly available, secure and high performing online services requires a transformation of infrastructure management capabilities.  Infrastructure as a Service is an incredible opportunity to develop the tools and technology to efficiently and reliably plan, build, deploy, monitor and manage services, from bare metal to the application stack.

The Manageability Services Group is working on the manageability framework that our online services depend on extensively. We have it all: complex algorithmic tasks, opportunity to write a lot of code, potential to influence the entire industry, and run our hundreds of thousands of servers. Smart, results-driven developers, testers, program managers and service engineers who have a passion for rapid innovation and delivery will find compelling challenges and rewards being part of our team.
