To celebrate the launch of our new social search experience and to inspire you to take action in your communities, we are launching the Bing Summer of Doing. Over the next few months, we’ll be rolling out daily searches designed to inspire you to do something by rewarding you with cool prizes. To kick things off, we are joining forces with DoSomething.org, the largest U.S. organization for teens and social change, to help connect you with ways you can start doing more to help your communities. Today we are holding the inaugural event with Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) in LA and additional community volunteer events will follow in cities across the nation, including Atlanta, New York and Chicago.
HOLA provides thousands of underserved and at-risk youth with exceptional free after-school programs in academics, arts and athletics. Today we are working alongside volunteers and celebrities to beautify and renovate the community center. The day of service will conclude with an unveiling for HOLA students and a celebratory pizza party and exclusive performance by Cody Simpson in the Lafayette Park Recreation Center.
Later this summer, we will be teaming with DoSomething.org on a national daily challenge called “The Hunt, 11 Days of Doing.” Hosted by DoSomething.org, The Hunt will pose 11 days of challenges each with the goal of creating change and positive community impact. Starting on July 10th, we will ask people to do something for their community, focused on a specific cause. You can work together as teams to complete the challenges and report back to show how you were able to create measurable impact in your community, all while collecting points to win prizes.
Those of you who couldn’t be in LA, still have a chance to get inspired. We will be hosting a #BingIt chat with Cody Simpson today, Friday, June 1 at 4:30 p.m. PT. The Queensland, Australia-born singer/songwriter is quickly shaping up as a true pop phenomenon.. With his previous release, the “COAST TO COAST”, debuting Top 12 on the Billboard 200 Cody will is preparing to release his highly anticipated follow-up release, “PREVIEW TO PARADISE” on June 12th.
